1. Acceptance of terms
By using Glosportal you accept these terms of use. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.
2. Description of the service
Glosportal is a web-based platform for vocabulary practice. The service enables:
- Creating and managing word lists
- Creating practice sessions with different exercise types
- Joining sessions via session codes
- Tracking student progress and results
3. Registration and accounts
For teachers:
- You must create an account to use the service as a teacher
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure
- You are responsible for all activity under your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create a teacher account
For students:
- Students do not need an account to join sessions
- Students may enter a name when joining a session (optional)
- Student data is deleted automatically when the session expires
4. Use of the service
You agree to:
- Use the service only for lawful purposes
- Not attempt to access or manipulate the system unlawfully
- Not use the service to harm or disrupt other users
- Respect the privacy of students and other users
- Not share session codes with unauthorised people
5. Content and responsibility
Teacher responsibilities:
- You are responsible for all content (word lists, vocabulary) you create and share
- You are responsible for ensuring content is appropriate and does not infringe third-party rights
- You are responsible for following your school's guidelines when using the service with students
- You are responsible for handling student data in line with GDPR and your school's policy
Platform responsibilities:
- We provide the platform "as is" without warranties
- We aim for high availability but cannot guarantee 100% uptime
- We are responsible for handling personal data according to our privacy policy
6. Time-limited data retention (GDPR)
Sessions with a deadline and associated student data are handled as follows:
- After the deadline: The session moves to "Ended sessions". The session and all associated student data (participation, progress, quiz results, other session-related data) is kept for at most 24 hours.
- Permanent deletion: After 24 hours the session and all related data are permanently deleted. Deletion cannot be undone.
- Teacher data: Word lists and active sessions are kept until manually deleted or (for sessions with a deadline) until 24 hours after the deadline has passed.
- No backup: Student data in ended sessions is not backed up.
Note: Export or document student results before 24 hours have passed if you need to keep them.
7. Intellectual property
The platform's content, design, logo, code, and functionality are protected by copyright and belong to the platform or its licensors.
Content you create (word lists, etc.) belongs to you; by using the service you grant us the right to store and display it in connection with the service.
8. Service interruptions and changes
We reserve the right to:
- Modify or update the service at any time
- Suspend or restrict access to the service when necessary
- Remove accounts that violate these terms
- Change functionality or design
9. Liability and indemnity
The service is provided "as is" without warranties. We are not liable for:
- Data loss due to technical faults
- Loss of student data when sessions expire (intentional deletion)
- Inaccuracies in generated content (e.g. cloze sentences)
- Issues with third-party services (database, speech/language services, etc.)
10. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. On termination:
- Your word lists and sessions may be deleted
- Ended sessions with a deadline are permanently deleted (together with all student data) 24 hours after the session has ended
- We may retain certain data as required by law
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swedish law. Any disputes shall be resolved in Swedish courts.
